Drogheda Port Company is pleased to announce that its 2008 Annual Arts Commission has been awarded to local artist Lindsey Ilona Brady. This latest commission was open to any artist to create a painting in any size and in any medium on a maritime or port based theme.
A resident of Drogheda, Lindsey is currently working on her Masters Degree in Fine Art at the University of Ulster.
On this year's submission, Lindsey said that her aim is to produce a work of art that "provoke the viewer to question the importance of water(ways) to the town, both personally and economically”
"The response to the 2008 commission was, as we have come to expect, excellent" said Joan Wiseman of Drogheda Port Company. “The standard of applications was very high and with such wide array of styles to choose from that this year’s commission was one of the toughest decisions we’ve had to make.”
She expressed the delight of Drogheda Port Company at their selection of Lindsey Ilona Brady for the 2008 commission and looks forward to working with her in the coming year. On behalf of Drogheda Port Company she wishes to thank the other applicants who submitted to the Commission for their time and interest and hopes they will submit again for future commissions.
