within Drogheda Port

Drogheda Port Company is seeking written Expressions of Interest from companies or individuals to;  

A. Lease an area for the purpose of construction and operation of a port related Warehouse and or Distribution Centre.

Or

B. Establish a joint venture company with Drogheda Port Company for the purpose of construction and operation of a port related Warehouse and or Distribution Centre.

The warehouse to be constructed at Drogheda Port Company’s deepwater  terminal at Tom Roe’s Point, Baltray Road, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The Tom Roe’s Point terminal is within easy access of the M1 motorway and will be adjacent to the proposed new Drogheda Northern Port Access Route when completed.

The development area of approximately 15,200 square metres is located within the secure port terminal alongside the deepwater quay front.

Drogheda Port Company is a semi state commercial company established under the Harbours Act 1996.

Geographically, the port is located on the historic river Boyne on Ireland’s east coast with direct access to both Dublin and Belfast on the M1 motorway.  The port is 45kms north of Dublin and its proximity to Dublin enables it to serve a significant market area of over 1.2 million people. It is ideally located on the Northern Trading Arc for marine traffic both to and from Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

As one of the Ireland’s premier multi modal ports it handles a wide range of commodities including paper, containers, LPG, petroleum, grains, timber and steel with achieved throughputs of 1.4 tonnes of cargo. The port has built its reputation on high levels of customer service, flexibility and the rapid turnaround of vessels.

Drogheda Port is a tidal port which has two facilities for the loading and discharging of cargoes, the Drogheda town quays and the deepwater terminal at Tom Roes Point, 2kms to the east of Drogheda town on the Baltray Road (R167). The port can currently accommodate vessels up to 120m in length.

The deepwater terminal at Tom Roe’s Point is Drogheda Port’s primary bulk and break bulk handling facility and is located 4kms from the sea. The estuary from sea to berth is maintained at a depth of -2.2m Chart Datum. The terminal berth is 160m in length with an always afloat dredged pocket of -6.0m at Chart Datum over a length of 210m. The terminal is contained within a secure perimeter fence with CCTV surveillance. The site has open storage and covered storage facilities. Primary handling is by two Liebherr LHM 250 harbour mobile cranes with additional tracked grabbing cranes. Secondary handling is by a modern fleet of dedicated container handling and general purpose forklifts. The site is fully serviced with office accommodation, customer and employee car parking.

The terminal at Tom Roe’s Point complies with the International Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) and EU Directive on port security. Drogheda Port Company is a licensed contractor for the handling and removal of ship and cargo generated waste.
