Draft of vessels to and from Drogheda Port
To: Owners, Operators, Managers, Masters, Pilots, Agents & Stevedores
Attention is drawn to vessels Masters in loading their vessels of the need to allow for sufficient under keel clearance, the effects of squat and interaction when navigating in shallow water.
In planning the vessels voyage and arrival draft for a given tide to berth at Drogheda Port (Tom Roe’s Point Terminal or Drogheda town quays), consideration should be given to the particular tidal predictions for Drogheda Port.
Masters are reminded that the tidal predictions for any given tide may be affected by particular weather conditions i.e., southerly winds and low barometric pressure may increased the tidal level above prediction, while northerly winds and high barometric pressure may reduce the tidal level below prediction.
In the planning of the voyage and in advance of arrival at Drogheda Port, Masters are also reminded to consult the appropriate nautical publications for tidal, berthing, e.t.a., and Pilotage information (NP 40, ALRS, ATT Volume 1). Additionally, Masters are reminded of the requirements of pre-arrival notification in respect of ISPS, polluting and hazardous cargoes and landing requirements for ship and cargo generated waste.
