Anne Mullen O’Brien

A Triptych Painting

In September 2003 Drogheda Port Company announced its third Annual Arts Commission and submissions for a triptych painting in any medium and any size on a “port related” theme were invited from local artists. The response to Drogheda Port Company’s invitation was overwhelming with a very high standard of submissions. This made Drogheda Port Company’s task of choosing one artist very difficult.

In December Drogheda Port Company finally announced Ms Ann Mullen O’Brien had been chosen for this particular commission. A native of Monasterboice and now working from Millmount Craft Centre, Ann has been involved in a number of solo and group exhibitions both locally and nationally. Taking her inspiration from the historic nature of the Boyne Valley she has been commissioned to produce pieces for local businesses and her work has been featured in Irish Homes and Interiors Magazine.

The commissioned work was unveiled on Wednesday July 14th in the Droichead Arts Municipal Centre in Drogheda and was on public display until Friday July 30th. The piece is now resident in the offices of Drogheda Port Company where it can be seen in the Reception Area.
