NDP Capital Dredging Scheme commences

A Capital Dredging Programme at Drogheda Port has commenced to deepen the access channel to the ports hydrocarbon terminal. The works which are part funded by the National Development Plan 2000 - 2006 will continue for a duration of approximatly eight weeks.

The dredging works will take place over a 1.3km section of the  navigation channel between the Tom Roes Point light beacon (53 43.23N, 006 18.61W) and the Donors Green light beacon (53 43.08N, 006 19.71W) ref: Admiralty List of Lights  Vol’A’, NP74 -2006/7 & British Admiralty chart 1431.

Additional ancillary works to include civil engineering works, temporary extinguishment of the Tom Roes Point light beacon (53 43.23, 006 18.61W, character QG), temporary extinguishment of the Milestone light beacon (53 43.17N, 006 19.06W, character FI R 2s) and installation of new navigational light beacons. 

Dredgers and ancillary vessels will operate  on a 24 hour basis for the duration of the works.
