A new record for Drogheda Port

A new port record was set in Drogheda Port with the arrival of the MV ‘Rusich – 1’, the longest ever vessel to be accommodated in the Port. The vessel at over 128 meters in length and ten crew on board discharged its cargo at Tom Roes Point Terminal.

The vessel arrived on Tuesday 24th March from Vyborg with a consignment of Russian fertilizer for the agricultural trade in Ireland. The passage from Russia to Drogheda took a little over 9 days with the vessel having to navigate some of the worst ice conditions in the Baltic Sea in recent times. A Russian class icebreaker the ‘Kapitan M. Izmaylov’  assisted the vessel breaking through the thick ice packs.
