Stowaway Sessions by Noel Kelly
Talented local artist Noel Kelly was commissioned by Drogheda Port Company to produce a painting of the charming Stowaway Sessions gigs during the Irish Maritime Festival in 2018 at the Town Quays in Drogheda. Noel captured one of the stowaway sessions on a mid summers evening on the boyne featuring Declan O Rourke on board the traditional tall ship Earl of Pembroke.
The traditional sailing vessel provided a unique venue for the series of stowaway sessions for the lucky audiences which attended, with sails forming a natural canopy the music reverberated through the ships timbers and rigging. Noel aspired to bring these special elements of the stowaway sessions to life in his oil painting.
