2025 Annual Arts Commission

Drogheda Port Company is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 Annual Art Commission, continuing a tradition that spans over two decades of celebrating the rich maritime heritage of Drogheda through the visual arts.

This year's commission once again invites local artists to explore the Maritime theme, encouraging interpretations that reflect the port's historical significance and its evolving role in the community. The initiative aims to foster a deeper connection between the port and the arts. Through annual art commissions and various cultural initiatives, Drogheda Port Company continues to celebrate the unique stories and landscapes that define Drogheda's coastal identity.

"Our annual art commission is more than just an artistic endeavour and we are excited to see how artists will capture the essence of our maritime legacy in innovative and inspiring ways." said Paul Fleming, CEO of  Drogheda Port Company.

The selected artist will receive a commission to create a piece that will become part of the port's permanent collection, joining works by previous artists such as Emily McCormack, whose 2024 piece commemorated the 1871 shipwreck of the Brig Manley at Mornington Beach, Gill McCulloch, whose 2023 painting depicted the navigation beacons of the Boyne estuary and sculptor Sallyanne Morgan who captured the human element in her art piece ‘The Docker’.

All visual art forms are welcome, including painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Interested artists should submit a brief biography, three photographs of existing work, and a short proposal outlining their approach to the theme.

Submissions and inquiries can be directed to Nessa Lally at nessalally@droghedaport.ie  Submissions must be received by 30th May 2025
